Cruise Port: Nassau

On the third day of our Backstreet Boys cruise, we docked in Nassau, Bahamas.

As I mentioned in the Cruise Night Two: Comic Con post, our cruise ship was had to change course.  Although I had never been to Turks and Caicos and was looking forward to being able to experience Grand Turk, I was just happy that we were going to be leaving the rough seas.  The water was incredibly rough when we were on route to Grand Turk, and it was rainy.  Everything was much smoother when we changed course, and we finally saw some sunshine.

There is something just so instantly relaxing about teal blue water as far as your eyes can see…

We woke up to a beautiful day in The Bahamas.  It was Cinco de Mayo, and I was in The Bahamas.  Life is good.

I had been to Nassau once before.  On the 2011 Backstreet Boys cruise, we went to Nassau.  However, it was a much different experience.  In 2011, we took a bus to a resort where they were going to having a beach party for the cruisers.

This time, it was a free day in Nassau.  We didn’t have anything planned since we had only known since the day prior that we would be going to Nassau.  Our plan for Grand Turk has been to relax on the beach.  My sister had been to Grand Turk and said that the beaches were gorgeous.

The cruise port was pretty crowded.  My sister, who has been on about 10 cruises, said that it was the most ships that she had seen at a port.  We walked around Nassau, and then we decided we wanted to check out the beach.

Unfortunately, it is isn’t as easy to walk to the beach in Nassau.

At least the weather was nice.  The only walkable beach was about a mile away, and it was small.  I always say that living on the Florida Gulf Coast for almost 8 years spoiled me on beaches.  There is just no place like home when it comes to my favorite beaches.  The water was pretty, but I decided to just lay out on the sand.  If I ever go back to Nassau, I will probably try to either preplan an excursion or take a taxi to Atlantis.

I mentioned in my Friday Fashion Finds – Florals post that my sister had ordered a bikini similar to mind.  You can see the back of it pictured to the right.  I love the color color of her top.

And back to the ship we go…

After an hour or so at the beach, we decided to walk back to the cruise ship.

We had lunch on the ship and relaxed by the pool.  By this time, the sun was fully out in the sky, and the weather was gorgeous.

I had quite the sun burn as proof…

Since was Cinco de Mayo, Howie from the Backstreet Boys had a fun Cinco de Howie event.  There was drinking, salsa eating, and dancing.  That was pretty much our only Backstreet Boys related event for the day, and then we would be seeing them again for the Lido Deck party that night.

After the event, we went back to our room to change for dinner.   I just love the little cruise towel animals.  We enjoyed dinner and more relaxing before it was time to get ready for the night fun during Millennium – White Party.

Stay tuned for an overview of our Millennium night, which was by far my favorite night of any cruise.

XOXO.
