Cruise Night Three: Millennium

The third night of the cruise was my absolute favorite night of any cruise Millennium White Party.

If you have been following my blog, you may have seen that Backstreet’s Back, Alright.  I mean, they didn’t go anywhere, but I always love a chance to throw it back to one of their most popular songs.  At the beginning of May, my sister and I went on our 5th Backstreet Boys cruise.

When my sister and I were deciding on our costumes for each night, she had read Millennium night and started thinking of ideas for 2000’s era costumes.  I told her that although it was Millennium night, it was going to be a white party.  But one of the ideas on her list was Britney and Christina.

At first I wasn’t sure how we would make it work with white party.  Then I realized that I could dress like Britney Spears in the Sometimes music video.  And she reminded me that Christina Aguilera also had a white costume in her Come On Over video.

And so my sister and I dressed like Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears.

Her costume was more obvious than mine since she had the red hair extensions and bejwelled belly.  But, I figured people would get the idea if they saw us together.  You can get similar clip in hair extensions on Amazon: Colored Party Highlights Straight Hair Clip Extensions.

I ordered a turtleneck crop top shirt and white Under Armour jogger pants from Amazon.  You can get a similar crop top here: Womens Turtle Neck Crop Long Sleeve Plain Top.  It is so trendy, even if you aren’t playing a Britney Spears cosplay outfit.

I considered white scrubs or other white pants, but I figured the joggers would be ones that I would wear again.  They were super comfortable though I did get a little hot while dancing all night long.  The Under Armour pants can be found here: Under Armour Women’s Favorite French Terry Jogger.  This was such an easy and fun costume.  In the photo on the model, they look to be pushed up a bit, but they went down to my ankles.  Now I have a great pair of joggers for the summer.

You may have seen in the Cruise Port: Nassau post that we spent the day in Nassau, Bahamas.  When we boarded the ship from Nassau, we laid out by the pool and attended a Cinco de Mayo event that Howie did.  I had also gotten a bit of a sunburn.  Needless to say, we were exhausted in the evening.  After dinner, we took a nap before getting ready for the night party.

The deck parties usually start between 11 PM – 12 AM.  Yes, they START at Midnight.  So a nap was definitely necessary because we wanted to stay up all night long.

I loved seeing the crowd in all white.

There were foam glow sticks being given away.  The fully lit up flashing lights looked amazing with all the white outfits.  My sister and I were lucky enough to get VIP bracelets and had an excellent view of the stage from the upper deck area.

When the Backstreet Boys came out on the stage, they were wearing all white..  I smiled with love and excitement realizing their were flashing it almost exactly like their outfits from the Millennium album cover.

I have been a fan of the Backstreet Boys for so long now.  Well over 20 years.  Maybe 22 or so?  I don’t remember exactly when I fell in love with them.

But I do know that May 18, 1999 was such a special day for me.

That was the day that the album Millennium was released.

I remember watching MTV all day and all the coverage for Millennium day.  The album meant so much to me, and I was lucky enough to see Backstreet Boys for the first time during the Into The Millennium tour.  They sang every single song off the Millennium album, and it was such a special moment.  After that, they sang a large number of old songs that was just amazing.

My sister also kept buying us drinks… so I kind of lost track of how many that I had.  It was enough to keep me dancing until 5 AM.

I also have a tradition of taking random selfies of myself on the cruise when I am wandering a lone on the ship…
