Vacation Last Day: Hollywood Studios

Well, I decided to just skip ahead to Vacation Fifth Day: Magic Kingdom since you already know that the Third Day was The Dark Side 10K and the Fourth Day was The Dark Side Half-Marathon.

When we did the 2016 half-marathon, we went to Epcot later that day to meet up with my grandparents.  Then we took the next day off to recover before spending two more days at the parks.  Last year, we went to Magic Kingdom the day after the half-marathon.  I wanted to take photos with our medals in front of the castle.  This year, I wanted to take photos with the Star Wars characters.

And so we went to Disney’s Hollywood Studios the day after our half-marathon.

When we arrived, we went straight to Launch Bay.  My favorite Star Wars character is Darth Vader, but Kylo Ren is a close second.  I love meeting Kylo Ren because he talks to you.  He was very impressed with our love of the dark side.

We took photos with Kylo Ren, Chewbacca, BB-8, and Stormtroopers.  The photo to the right is actually from when Layla went back to Disney last week.  It was just so cute that I had to add it to the post.  BB-8 is one of her favorite characters, but Layla also takes after her mommy and has a love for the dark side.  She just loved Kylo Ren so much and told everyone that he was her favorite.  One castmember said, “Kylo Ren? Isn’t he scary?” She replied, “Noooo! He’s fun!” Her love for Kylo melted my heart, and I decided to purchase her a Kylo Ren inspired outfit for Galactic Nights.

After the Star Wars fun, my husband and I each took turns riding my favorite ride – Tower of Terror.

I held up my medal for my Tower of Terror photo, but unfortunately I was in the corner seat.  It was dark and hard to see me.  Tower of Terror was the only ride that we went on.  We wanted to ride Toy Story Mania, but couldn’t get a fast pass.  My husband and I have so many memories riding it over and over again in California at Disney’s California Adventure park.  However, the fast passes were out.  I had went on My Disney Experience the first day that I could book passes, and they were already gone.  This is usually due to guests staying at the resort being able to book much sooner.  Maybe next time we will get lucky to ride it again…

Lunch and more characters!

We had a late lunch / early dinner at 50’s Prime Time Cafe.  It was my first time eating there, and it was delicious.  I got the pot roast and ate every last bite.  The waitress fell in love with Layla.  She talked to her all throughout our meal and brought her a light up Tinkerbell.

At Hollywood Studios, there are not a lot of fast pass options for families.  This will likely change once the Pixar and Star Wars lands open.  My husband and I considered going on Rock N Rollercoaster or Star Tours individually, but we wanted to do attractions as a family.  We decided to get fast passes (even though they probably weren’t needed) for Voyage of The Little Mermaid and Disney Junior Live.

Before we left, we met more characters.  I was happy to meet Olaf because it was my first time meeting him.  Layla sang “In Summer” to him and gave him a warm hug.  She was also excited to meet some of her favorite Disney Junior stars – Doc McStuffins, Pluto, Sofia, and Jake.  Actually, she barely knew who Jake was before this trip, but now she is constantly requesting to watch Jake and the Neverland Pirates.  Her photos with him are adorable because she is saying, “Where’s Mickey???”

We will be back in just a couple of weeks!

I plan on taking Layla back to Hollywood Studios later this month.  When we are there, I will make sure to see Beauty and the Beast, Frozen Sing-a-long, and maybe meet more characters.  We will be going for a few hours during the day and then Galactic Nights during the evening.  I am so excited for our Darth Vader / Kylo Ren costumes.
