This was my third Mother’s Day with Layla, and every year it just keeps better and better.
On Sunday morning, my husband woke up before Layla and I. He cooked us a delicious breakfast that we received from Home Chef. It was pineapple upside down pancakes with toasted coconut and macadamia nuts. We have been using Home Chef for about two years now, and it makes meal planning so much easier. Home Chef also included sparkling water and orange juice for mocktail mimosas. We used MorningStar “sausage” links as a side. My husband gave me my drink in a Batman glass that we received from my sister for Christmas. It instantly brought me back to the cruise last week because my sister and I dressed as Harley Quinn and Catwoman for Comic Con Night.
When we finished breakfast, we spent most of the day relaxing.
After a busy post cruise week, I wanted to take the weekend to recharge. Besides some light cleaning and a 21 Day Fix workout, I tried to relax and enjoy the beautiful weather with my little girl. We went for a family walk around the neighborhood and took Layla to the playground. She just loves swinging and sliding. She could have stayed outside forever, but it was definitely getting too warm for mommy’s liking. I also had to finish going through my boxes from Trunk Club and Trendsend to see which outfits I would be keeping and returning.
Mother’s Day tradition…
That evening, we kept our Mother’s Day tradition of going to my favorite restaurant – Blue Ridge Grill. It is a delicious local restaurant and our go-to place for an evening out. Every year, I have taken a Mother’s Day photo with Layla in front of the water fountains. It is amazing to see how much she has grown and changed.
The photo to the right shows Layla and I in 2016, 2017, and 2018. She was born in June 2015 so I was about 8 months pregnant on Mother’s Day 2015. She will be 3 years old in just a few weeks, and I can’t believe how fast the time flies. I am thankful to have this fun Mother’s Day tradition with her.
The dress that I wore for Mother’s Day was from my most recent Trunk Club box. Whether it’s a casual trip to the movies or an elegant dinner, your Trunk Club stylist can find you a confidence-boosting look. I highly recommend Trunk Club to busy moms (or anyone!).
This was my second trunk, and I already feel like my stylist gets me. This box was so very me, and I kept most of the items. There were a few that I returned, mostly due to sizing or already owning similar items. The Eliza J dress that I am wearing was my absolute favorite piece in the box, and it was the first item that I said YES to keeping. I paired it with a basic black cardigan that I already owned and Lucky Brand flats.
Layla is wearing an adorable dress that I bought when I was to Nassau, Bahamas. She loved telling everyone that mommy got the dress for her when she was on a big boat to “hamas”. The teal star fish sandals are her current favorite pair of shoes that we recently bought from Gymboree.
I hope to keep this tradition of eating at Blue Ridge Grill and taking photos by the water fountains year after year.
