Backstreet’s Back, Alright!

Even though they really didn’t go anywhere… I am so excited that the Backstreet Boys are releasing a new single TONIGHT.

At the stroke of midnight tonight, the new Backstreet Boys single “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” will be released.  It is going to be like Christmas morning.  I am a huge Backstreet Boys fan.  They are my ultimate obsession.  Although I do not remember the exact moment that I fell in love with them, I do know that it has been well over 20 years now.

I remember watching Everybody (Backstreet’s Back) on Total Request (before it was Live) on MTV.  I voted every day for All I Have To Give, I Want It That Way, Larger Than Live, and all of their videos on Total Request Live.  My friend and I were constantly featured on the local radio station for singing our requests.  “We want to request Backstreet Boys Show Me The Meaning Of Beeeeeeing Lonely.”

I have seen them pretty consistently since 1999, and that will not be changing… ever…

The picture above is one of my favorite photos with Backstreet Boys.  This was a Christmas radio tour with several other artists, such as Colbie Caillat and Plain White T’s.  Although I had already met them several times before, this one was particularly special to me.  I went to this show about a month after Skyping with Nick on my birthday.  I will never forget how he pulled me into his arms before I could even say hello to the other guys.  It was the first time that he said he remembered me, and my heart melted.  He even wore my Mickey ears at the after party, and it ended up being one of my favorite nights with Backstreet Boys.

If you couldn’t tell, I am definitely a Nick girl.  I love them all, but Nick will forever have my heart.  Nick was the first one that I met, back in 2001.  Sadly, this was before the camera phone era, and I was not able to get a picture with him.  However, I will never forget that amazing elevator ride, standing next to my idol.

My first picture came several years later.  In 2007, I was living in California, when Nick did a solo charity event at a club about an hour from my house.  Shout out to my amazing husband for going with me, and even taking my first picture with Nick.  He had a meet and greet before singing a few Backstreet Boys and solo song.  It was my first time being up close for a “concert”, and I was so happy to FINALLY have my dream of meeting Nick Carter come true.

My love for them has only grown over the years.

As I mentioned, I have seen Backstreet Boys pretty consistently over the past (almost 20) years.  My first Backstreet Boys concert was the Into The Millennium tour in 1999.  Through the years I also saw them during all of their tours: Black & Blue, Never Gone, Unbreakable, This Is Us, NKOTBSB, and In A World Like This.  I went to Nick’s solo concerts (Now or Never, I’m Taking Off, Nick & Knight, and All American), saw AJ solo (Johnny No Name and 2008 solo concert), did some random events (Shark Club, Good Morning America, music festivals), and flew to Las Vegas to see their Vegas residency.  The photo to the right is my all time favorite photo with Nick.  This was from the Nick & Knight tour, and I was about 7 weeks pregnant with Layla at the time so I consider this her first concert.

In 2010, I went on the first Backstreet Boys cruise.  It was amazing.  Rose Tours does several entertainment cruises, and Backstreet Boys have had a total of 6 cruises.  I went on 5 of the 6 cruises – 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, and 2018.  Each one was different but equally wonderful experiences.  I only missed the 2016 European Cruise because Layla was still a baby.  The photo to the right is from October 2014, and I was about 8 weeks pregnant with Layla.  The photo to the left was only a week after the Nick & Knight concert picture above.  The Europe cruise actually went on sale while I was in the hospital having Layla.  She was worth missing that one, but hopefully that will be the only one that I miss!

The 2018 cruise may have been the best one yet, and I am so thankful that I was there to experience it.

Stay tuned. I will be doing a blog post about each day of the cruise, and all the fun outfits.  My sister and I had such a great time dressing up for all the theme nights.  I will be posting our costumes from High School, Comic Con, Millennium (white party), and 90’s Night on upcoming blog posts!

XOXO.
